Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it. Luke 18:17
One of the things that make us unique is that babies and children are welcome in our worship service. Children need the Truth as much as we do, and they need to know that they are part of the church, not an addendum.
We discover every week, when our church body is immersed in the Scriptures, that young children meet the Word of God where they are and do not need it changed or oversimplified to understand it.
At Berean, the children in our church body bring a fresh and welcome perspective to our study. Further, families have the opportunity after church to discuss and process the scripture we are studying together (because they hear the same sermon), which enriches all of our experience in the Word.
It is a rich experience to study the Word as whole families. We have observed that day care operations also require significant volunteer time, and detracts from the opportunity for our families to worship together in unity. We have found that it is far easier to teach children that this is their church and that they are an important part of the church family. Thus, we treat them as part of the covenant family from the beginning.
We have a room where parents can retreat if a child needs extra care, but we do not offer a daycare operation at Berean. If your family needs extra help with your children during service, we have many willing hands – someone will probably notice and offer to help, but if not, just ask.
